Environmental Health & Safety

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) manages and implements a comprehensive set of programs for all faculty, staff, and students at Northeastern University. The goal of EHS is to provide consultation to the many different departments so that a safe and healthful working environment is maintained. In addition, audit services are provided to ensure that Northeastern University fulfills obligations to be in compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations.

Human Resources

The role of Human Resources (HR) is to design, develop, and continually refine a comprehensive human resources management program that attracts, rewards, and retains high-quality faculty and staff to meet Northeastern University’s educational mission. HR encompasses the following five areas: benefits, compensation, talent management, human resources information systems, and training and development. Each of these areas encompasses compliance with laws and regulations.

Office of the General Counsel

The Office of the General Counsel is responsible for all aspects of the legal representation of Northeastern University and strives to be proactive in meeting the university’s legal needs. The Office centralizes and coordinates all legal services at the university, provides legal advice, guidance, and services to all senior university officials and their departments, and promotes a forum in which legal issues can be addressed and resolved, if possible, in a fair, speedy and thoughtful manner. The Office participates in the creation and implementation of university policies on a wide range of matters that may have legal components to ensure consistent legal analysis and coordination of substantive decision-making.

Office for University Equity and Compliance

The Office for University Equity and Compliance (OUEC) leads efforts to maintain the University’s compliance with all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to anti-discrimination, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Title IX. The OUEC is responsible for investigating and resolving all complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation at Northeastern. The Assistant Vice President for University Equity and Compliance / Title IX Coordinator coordinates the University’s response to complaints involving all forms of discrimination.

Office of Institutional Diversity & Inclusion

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion (OIDI) promotes the university’s commitment to equal opportunity, affirmative action, diversity and social justice while building a climate of inclusion on and beyond campus. OIDI develops programs and policies, builds outreach to external organizations, and provides services to students, faculty, staff and the community.
